.New blog Update.

Hello!

I posted a few months ago about my new blog www.kmlmakeup.blogspot.com and urged you all to pop over and start following, as A Girl and Her Make Up is no more. I currently have 108 loyal followers on this blog, but only a sad 12 on my new one. It's feeling very left out and I would urge you all to get your tushes on over there and read some of my new posts, including a review on MAC's new AMAZING mascara, my holiday outfits and my duty free purchases! I am loving writing this time round and would love it even more if I could share it with you guys.

Love to you all and happy new year.

See you over at the new blog,

Kate x

.YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres.

Hello guys and girls,

The other week I saw a blog post from my Make Up Artist idol Lisa Eldridge, about the new YSL lipstick/gloss/stain, Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres. I fell in love with the concept of them immediately and knew I had to have at least one in my life as soon as possible. Queue trip to The Bullring with my Mum on Saturday and the deed was done.

I'm not one to review a product so quickly after using it, but this has to be talked about. The product is a hybrid of a lipstick, a lipgloss and a lip stain. You know how it goes - Lipstick sometimes doesn't have that sheen you crave, lipgloss is sometimes not pigmented enough and a little bit gloopy and lip stains can dry your lips out like no-one's business. YSL have very cleverly fused all three products together and in my opinion, have come out on top.

Here's what they say on their website:

  • GLOSS? STAIN? LIPSTICK? WHY COMPROMISE? HAVE IT ALL
  • Live the sophistication of a boundless glossy colour that truly fuses
  • your lips in a new shine. A GLOSSY STAIN you barely feel.
  • OUR NEW MOVEMENT IN LIPWEAR IS BORN.
They're not lying. I agree with every statement they have put on their site and I believe they've created something that every woman wants, needs and can now have.

I was on the lookout for a red shade, as I was going out that night and had a lovely leopard print pencil skirt that I wanted to compliment with a red lip. There are 19 shades to choose from, ranging from lovely nude pinks to deep violet shades, so there is something for everyone. There were two reds that caught my eye but I ended up plumping for number 9 Rouge Laque, which is a great classic red shade.

I like the fact you can see the colour before you open the product, great for professional kits and make up bags alike. The packaging is lovely, really sleek and sophisticated much like all other YSL beauty products. The one thing I really love about the packaging is the applicator. A tear drop shaped wand that fits the curves of your lips amazingly well, so much so that I managed a perfect red lip on the car journey home.

The texture of the product is like nothing i've used before. It's so light and almost feels a bit watery, but not runny in the slightest. Once it's on your lips it feels creamy, nourishing and barely there. The smell is lovely too, a sweetie sort of scent.

Here are some pictures of me wearing it. I did wear MAC Brick lipliner and MAC Russian Red as well on my night out so I have included a picture of me wearing it bare on my lips with nothing else - taken today, so please excuse the fact I'm wearing no other make up, as I am having a chilled day before a busy week of shoots and shows this week.

Without flash.
With flash.
Bare on my lips, applied straight on with the applicator.

So there we have it - massive love for this product, so thank you YSL. I will 100% be investing in some other colours. I say investing thanks to the £22.50 price tag - ouch. Thankfully I got this for £12.50 as I had a tenner on my Debenhams beauty card... A definite sign I spend far too much money on make up!

Love, Kate x

Thought I would post a few pictures of recent hair and make ups i've done on people or practiced on my evil doll head - She scares me very much.

Most of my pictures are posted up onto my Instagram account so follow me if you find all this at all interesting - 'katelambie'.

This is just a quick one, making you all aware of my Facebook page and my new website. It would mean a lot if you could 'like' my FB page for me, as it spreads the word and helps me hopefully grow in the industry!

I've done a couple of really lovely shoots with some photographers in the last couple of weeks and have two coming up next week including a runway show on Wednesday, so i'll be posting pictures of all of them as soon as I can!

.Merry Christmas.

Hello everyone!

Merry Christmas for a couple of days ago. I hope you all had a lovely day and that Santa was good to you. I am a diehard Christmas fan, and the countdown to it normally starts in about March, much to the annoyance of friends and family who don't need "It's __ months until Christmas!!!" on every 25th of every month...

As all of our relatives live up in sunny Scotland, it's always just the five of us at home all day on Christmas. I wouldn't have it any other way, as I see Christmas as a holiday to appreciate the people you have around you, and a very family orientated one. I always feel very lucky around this time of the year, as I am more than aware that there are people out there that see Christmas as just another day of the year for one reason or another. My boyfriend Tom normally comes over in the evening and we all sit around eating, drinking, being merry and watching all the soaps and shows that are on the TV - Can I just take this moment to express how AMAZING Downton was?! YAY for Lady Mary and Matthew Crawley - at last!

This post isn't a Christmas haul post, it's more just a 'Christmas themed' post with pictures that scream Christmas to me, pictures of my day and a few gifts I received. I was very lucky on Christmas morning, but don't want to go posting loads of pictures people probably won't be very interested in! If you like these sort of posts, check out the lovely Laura's Christmas blog post here, and if you've done one yourself, please link them in the comments as I adore these sort of posts.

How long have you all got off for the holidays? I'm not back to the School of Make Up until January, so i'm spending my days being lazy and seeing friends and spending time with my loved ones. Today I haven't even got out of my PJs which is incredibly lazy! I'm also super excited as my MUA idol Lisa Eldridge replied to one of my tweets about my shoots from a couple of weeks ago - I had a little fan girl moment. (@katelambie if you would like to follow me.)

Hope you all have a lovely holiday, whatever you are up to...
